enterprises.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>If elected, we will set up an Ethical Trade Labelling (ETL) Authority to certify that particular products and or organisations embody ethical trading standards.<\/p><p><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><strong>For example, the organisations that have undertaken production and traded under conditions characterised by the following amongst others:<br \/><\/strong><\/p><ul><li>The absence of child labour and forced labour;<\/li><li>The unalienable right to unionise;<\/li><li>Compliance with industrial relations laws;<\/li><li>Provision of genuine advice to customers\/clients;<\/li><li>Respect for the environment assessed in terms of the contribution to minimise carbon footprint;<\/li><li>Not involved in insider trading and other unscrupulous activities;<\/li><li>Commitment to gender equity and poverty reduction;<\/li><li>Humane treatment of animals;<\/li><li>Those who use higher percentage of locally manufactured inputs as opposed to imported inputs;<\/li><li>Provision of work opportunities for socially disadvantaged and people with disabilities; and<\/li><li>High percentage of ETL certified trading partners.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"font_8\">We will encourage industry associations and peak bodies to actively comply with the ethical trading policy.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>Based on international best practice on ethical trade, for example, following the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) stipulated in the UN\u2019s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we will seize opportunities to take action on and promote ethical trade and workers\u2019 rights in partnership with businesses, trade unions and civil society organisations.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>We will make arrangements to deliver awards of recognition to businesses that demonstrate an outstanding contribution to the social, economic, environmental planning and development of local communities, particularly those businesses seeking to address the challenges these communities encounter.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>If elected, we will give special consideration to Ethical Trade Certified organisations in procurement of government supplies and provision of contracts.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>National government will work with local government, business, community groups, non-profit organisations and other relevant groups to support the establishment and ongoing development of self-administered community-based fair-trading
