BIOGRAPHY
My story is that of a one-time central leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (the People’s Liberation Front) of Sri Lanka. As a passionate and independent activist, I have been advocating for promoting and protecting the rights to equality and non-discrimination and
fighting against unfair or prejudicial treatment of people and groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, beliefs, age, or sexual orientation.
Michael Cooke’s book provides an invaluable background to the bloody struggles which the island since independence have undergone. Formerly, I was a General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
I left the JVP in February 1984due to the chauvinist positions taken on the Tamil question.
Since October 1989, I with my family have been living the life of an exile. I live in Australia working for intercommunal harmony in Sri Lanka and among the Diaspora on a rights-based approach.
